Delhi-based Rajdoot Paints has more than a century's background in the paint industry but has remained in the small scale sector. The company manufactures industrial and automotive paints at its manufacturing unit at Sikandrabad, Uttar Pradesh.
The company, in 1995, had a technological alliance with German paint company, Laknwitzerlakfabrik and Candis of Italy. The German firm is a manufacturer of automotive and wood finisher paints, while the Italian company is a market leader in multicolour wall finisher. This alliance provided RPL with latest paints for both automotive and wall finishers.
In 1995, the company expanded to increase its capacity from 25,000 tpa to 50,000 tpa. As part of expansion, it set up a new factory at Goa, to manufacture resins, commercial production of which is to commence in Dec.'96. This was the first phase of expansion. In the second phase, it will start manufacturing new products like powder coatings, auto refinishers and premium architectural coatings which will be manufactured in the plant at Goa. It also introduced two new products - Four Seasons, synthetic enamel and Woodgrain melamine finish.
Among the company's brands are Acri-silk, a washable distemper, ideally suited for fully matured plaster, concrete synthetic enamel.
During the year 1999, the company has mergerd with Berger Paints India Ltd., as per the scheme of amalgamation, two equity shares of Berger Paints India Ltd., will be allotted for every five existing equity shares of Rajdoot Paints India Ltd.
