You can consider the following ELSS schemes for investment based on their track record, low expense ratio, long term record in the market and risk-reward ratio: SBI Magnum Taxgain Scheme, Birla Sunlife Tax Relief Fund and HDFC Taxsaver Fund. Sundaram BNP Tax Saver Fund is also very good. It has a good long-term track record in delivering impressive returns and ability to contain downsides. In the downside the fund also holds considerable amount of cash, which is a very good strategy. SBI Magnum is also good as suggested.

make sure u invest in good companies. some of the elss schemes have generated 60% loss in last 1-yr. ALSO consider investing in safer option like PPF or NABARD rural Bond for tax saving under 80 C

religare tax fund has done very well, the fund has surpassed all the funds in its category and performed best.over a 3 years it has given 15.1% CAGR return. The fund performed well in the falling markets of 2008, and rising markets of 2009 despite having high exposure of mid cap companies. Religare Tax Plan's fund manager, Mr Vetri Subramanium also has a good track record and has managed the fund well. Consider this fund for SIP investment or even your lump sum tax investment.
