How it works

Dematerialisation converts your paper share certificates into electronic form with the help of the registrar and share transfer agents of the company. The electronic shares are maintained in your demat account with your depository participant (Arihant).

A depository holds your shares in electronic form the same way as a bank keeps your money. Just as you can open an account in a bank, deposit/withdraw money and transfer money, in the same way you can open a share (demat) account, credit shares to your account and instruct the depository to deliver these shares on your behalf in the depository system.

The shares are tabulated company-wise and all your purchase /sale transactions are accurately recorded in your demat account. You receive regular statements for your ready reference.
